Sneak Peak Ahead…

Hello from sunny Mousehole! I’m writing this by the harbour, where the summer season is gathering pace and the village is buzzing. The Mousehole Craft Fair has been full of energy, friendly faces, and inspiring conversations, so many of you stopping by to talk weaving and all things handmade. It’s been such a joy.

Introducing people to the beauty of handwoven cloth never gets old. I love seeing someone’s face light up as they touch the fabric, find the perfect piece, and imagine it in their home or wrapped up as a meaningful gift. That sense of connection and the longevity of something made to last is at the heart of what I do.

One of the greatest compliments I hear is when someone remarks not just on the feel of the fabric, but the colours. Designing harmonious, thoughtful colour palettes is a real pleasure, and it means so much when they resonate.

Many of you know that handweaving is a slow craft, and each small-batch piece is created with care and intention. To stay ahead of the seasons, I’ve already started work on my autumn collection. These new pieces will be available on my website by mid-July, with subscribers getting first access so do feel free to get in touch if something catches your eye.

This collection is woven from a fine cotton and linen blend combining the strength of flax with the softness of cotton. I’ve used flowing traditional twill patterns to craft a cloth that feels like it was gathered straight from a Cornish hedgerow in autumn. Think rich olive greens, rosewood, soft amber, and blush pink. A truly warm and earthy palette.

From this cloth, I’ve made linen-lined snoods, cowls, and two beautiful free-hand fringed wraps. They’ll begin appearing at markets from September onwards, and I can’t wait to share them with you in person.

Until then, I hope your summer is full of sea swims, garden days, and good company.

With warm wishes,
Sarah – Artisan Weaver
